Arnside Knott and Coastline
Arnside is a quaint coastal village no more than a 10 minute drive from Heversham. It is part of a designated area of outstanding beauty, renowned for its rare species of flora, fauna, rare butterflies, coastal views and sea birds.
There is a beautiful walk along the shoreline that is ideal for everyone, although you will need walking boots or wellies as the terrain can be both muddy and wet (the beach is a mud bay rather than sand). Or you can walk up Arnside Knott for the most amazing views across the sea and into the mountains. The views change all the time depending on weather and month. The Knott can be a blaze of yellow gorse, or covered in purple heather; skies of dramatic oranges and reds are commonplace as the sun sets on the west coast horizon; dramatic mountains tops covered in snow, or maybe hidden completely by cloud; and millpond reflections in the estuary or the boar wave as the change of tides occurs. It’s one of my favourite places.
